Joan Drumheller Campbell
Joan (Drumheller) Campbell, 83, a resident of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Friday June 7, 2024 at Summit Square Retirement Community.
She was born December 17, 1940 in Rockfish Depot Nelson County, VA, a daughter of the late Robert P. Drumheller and Eva Pauline (Glick) Drumheller.
She began her career with State Farm Insurance, and continued until she married her loving husband, Jerry M. Campbell. At that time she became a devoted, and full time, wife and mother. In the mid-1970’s, she joined Wayn-Tex and worked there until her retirement.
Joan loved gardening, flowers, needlework and crafting. She was an excellent cook. After retirement, she and her husband traveled frequently across the United States. She was a faithful member of Lyndhurst Methodist Church.
Surviving are her loving husband of 64 years, Jerry M. Campbell of Waynesboro; son, Greg Campbell of Waynesboro; sisters, Janet P. Drumheller of Waynesboro, Faye D. Duncan and husband Marty of Lyndhurst, and Marsha D. Huddleston and husband Jesse of Barboursville; nieces, Jennifer Faye Duncan and husband Christian Critzer, E. Erin and Brian “Hip” Chandler both couples residing in Staunton, Amie H. Richardson and husband Ryan of Ruckersville; nephew, Robert Brian Huddleston and wife Mirjana of Charlottesville; great-nephews, Logan Waker Norwood Critzer and Greyson Byrd Critzer; great-nieces, Natalie Elise Richardson and Cassidy Ryan Richardson; cousins, Robert O. Kidd, Neel Flannagan, Kay Wooten, Zane Pierce, Bernie Campbell and Ben Campbell.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Hodge officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Please attend in casual dress.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Joan’s name to the American Cancer Society.
