John Carter Gentry, Jr.

John Carter Gentry, Jr., 73 of Charlottesville, Va., passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Autumn Care in Madison, Va. He was born on September 17, 1950 to the late John Carter Gentry, Sr. and Lillian Brown Gentry. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Brown and Bobby Gentry; sister, Mary Gentry; and two nephews, Jerone Lewis and DeJaun Lewis.

He is survived by his daughter, Janae Gentry; son, John Gentry, III; his life-time soul mate, Patsy Bolden; brother, Larry Gentry; sisters, Margaret Ann Gentry, Shirley Mae Gentry, Sara Lee Gentry, and Helen Louise Lewis; and two step-children.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, Va with interment in Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlotteville, Va. Pastor Howard Brown will officiate. A visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home.
