John Michael Walin

John Michael Walin,of Virginia Beach, passed away on August 1, 2024.John Michael Walin, caring father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away after a brief illness at his home in Charlottesville, VA. He is survived by his children Jack (Ida) Walin of Gaithersburg MD, Kristina (Tristan) Rogers of Oak Park, IL as well as his grandchildren Isabella Walin and Desmond and Morgan Rogers, brother Mark (Michelle) Walin of Charlottesville, VA and father Klaus Walin of Fargo,ND.He was born and lived most of his life around the Chicago area where he had careers in marketing, sales and eventually real estate. He retired during the pandemic and moved out to the Virginia Beach area to follow his lifelong dream of living on the ocean. He loved the music scene and excitement of his new home and the many friends he shared it with.The family will have a memorial service and celebration of John’s life on September 21 in Oak Park IL. Memorials may be given to The Ocean Cleanup (https://theoceancleanup.com/), a nonprofit dedicated to removing plastic from our oceans. As a Master Scuba Diver, John had a deep love for the water, and your contribution will help protect marine life for future generations.
