Johnnie Mac Kestner

November 17, 1942 - March 13, 2024

Johnnie Mac Kestner, 81, a resident of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 17, 1942 in Waynesboro, VA, a son of the late Floyd and Irene (Brown) Kestner.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy.

Johnnie was retired after 31 years of service with Wayne Manufacturing (Lofton Corporation), and later worked at Summit Square Retirement Community.

He held a special place in his heart for his five grandchildren, and enjoyed bird watching. He loved sports and was an avid Redskins fan. He was affectionately known as “Coach Johnnie” to many in the community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Blackwell) Kestner; daughter, Michelle Kestner; granddaughter, Riley Brooke Felici; brothers, Tommy Kestner, Floyd “Doodle” Kestner, Jr., Timothy Kestner, Glenn Kestner, and Jerry Wayne Kestner; and son-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Lanier Felici.

Surviving are his daughters and their families, Marsha (Kestner) Felici Michael and her husband Bradley (Piper Brooke Michael, Blakeley Reese Michael, and Sloan Lanier Michael), and Lauren Kestner (Jett Mac Mason); brothers, Chester Kestner and his wife Kim, and Kenneth Kestner and his wife Michelle; sisters, Debbie Dunn and husband Eddie, Shirley Gill, and Helen Price; sister-in-law, “Binky” Blackwell Stevens; special friend, Judy Aaron; and many loved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Augusta Memorial Park, officiated by Joshua Wheeler. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Kestner, Mark Kestner, Jeremy Stevens, Danny Stevens, Sherri Dawn Terrell, and Ceasar Wheeler.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 8 PM Saturday evening at his residence, 301 Lynn Lane, Waynesboro, VA.

It is kindly asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his name to Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center, 1001 Mt. Torrey Road, Lyndhurst, VA 22952.
