June Maupin Gibson
June M. Gibson, 83, of Charlottesville passed away on March 25, 2024.
June was born on December 25, 1940 to the late, James Philip Morris and Lillian Morris Howard.
June is survived by her husband, Carl L. Gibson; daughters, Sarah Sawyer and her husband Randy, Tammy Hensley and her husband Jeff; her stepdaughters, Linda Davis and her husband Charles, Carla Agosti and her husband, Steve. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Lauren and her husband Sam, Logan and his wife, Kenzie, Tabitha, Jenny and her husband Lucas, Chucky and his wife Lori, Chris and his wife Lisa, Jeremy and his wife Stephanie, Brian and his wife Shelly, Matthew, Ronnie and his wife Racheal. She also leaves behind her 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She had many special nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family wishes to send a special "Thank You," to Vickie Thomas, Sandy Mills, Paula Brunac and her husband John, Effie Nash and Katherine Morris. Also a special "Thank You," to the staff at UVA Medical Center, 3 East and to Hospice of the Piedmont. Their staff were wonderful and efficient when caring for June.
June was happiest in the sun and around her family. She was a passionate Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Upon her retirement from Comdial, she enjoyed the opportunity to serve her community at Chandlers Ice Cream. She also loved being a snowbird. She lived in Florida for six months out of the year. A few more of her favorites were hummingbirds, country music, dancing, and karaoke. June was a cruise connoisseur. She earned this title after taking 41 cruises!
She was a long time member of the Doe Club at the Elk’s and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Rivanna Baptist Church.
June had love for all people, especially her neighbors in the Locust Grove neighborhood.

Family night will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 2nd at Northridge Community Church, 5100 Dickerson Rd. Charlottesville VA 22911 and funeral will be on Wednesday, April 3rd at 11:00 am at Northridge Community Church 5100 Dickerson Rd. Charlottesville, VA 22911. Interment will immediately follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trl. Charlottesville VA 22911. The family invites everyone to join them for a meal at the church following interment.
