Larry Glenn Thompson

Larry Thompson, son of John Francis and Thelma Crawford Thompson, passed peacefully at the UVA hospital in Charlottesville after a brave fight against stage four lung disease.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, sister Brenda E. Thompson and nephew Frederick L. Shifflett, Jr.

He is survived by his son John Brett Thompson of Clifton Forge, Va., Sister Sandra T. Shifflett, Fred of Charlottesville, Va., brother Ron F. Thompson, Cho of St. Paul’s, NC. And ex-wife Linda Hill of Clifton Forge, Va. Many nieces and nephews and an abundance of great friends.

He was a charismatic person who loved and was loved by a lot of people especially his extended family in Clifton Forge, Va. Larry served in the Navy for four years during the Vietnam War and retired from Virginia Power as a supervisor. HIs greatest loves were playing golf, hunting, reading, cooking and eating sausage gravy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
