Leonard “Lenny” Franklin Coyner, 92, of Ruckersville, VA, passed away peacefully on November 04, 2024 in Charlottesville VA surround by his loving wife and family.Lenny was born October 8, 1932 in Greenville, VA to the late William Houston and Leilia Whitesell Coyner. He was the youngest of 10 children and pre-deceased by seven of his siblings.Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Betty Elliott Coyner; a brother, Russell Coyner, Fishersville, VA, and a sister, Gladys Crosby of Mount Sidney, VA; his four children, Lennie Coyner (Debbie) of Charlottesville, VA, Demmie Maine (John) of Charlottesville, VA, Deana Coyner of Ruckersville, VA, and Denise Pemberton (Terry) of Keswick, VA, and Margil Coyner, mother of his children; five grandchildren, Katelyn Flynn (Josey) of Charlottesville, VA, Emmalee Maine of Fredericksburg, VA, Daniel Maine (Lissa) of Cary, NC, Rebecca Biskaduros (Zackery) of Herndon, VA, and Kelly Breeden (Spencer) of Melbourne, FL; and six great-grandchildren, Ansley and Forrest Flynn, Lilith Farkas, Theodore and Markie Maine, Afton and Avery Biskaduros, and Reagan Breeden; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Jimmy Elliott, Aylett, VA.Lenny graduated in 1951 from Wilson Memorial High School in Fishersville, VA. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 in the Infantry Division. During his military service he was stationed in Germany. After leaving the Army, Lenny was employed for 35 years at General Electric (GE) in Waynesboro and Charlottesville, VA. During his time at GE, he served in many positions and enjoyed all the wonderful employees he worked with and the great friendships he established. After retiring in 1991, Lenny’s joy for helping others, manifested in starting a “handyman” business. His talent for fixing things was second to none and this talent started when he was a young man working on his family farm and building several of his own family homes.He was a loving husband and father and his happiest times were spent with his family whom he loved dearly. As an avid, expert gardener he enjoyed planting and working his garden each day and sharing the harvest with his friends and family. In addition to gardening, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with many wonderful friends.He is a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Ruckersville, VA. He loved the Lord and truly served Him through many works with the church. Lenny spent many years involved as a member of the VFW Post #2044, volunteering at Feeding Greene, Inc.-The Food Pantry of Greene County, and attending his high school class reunions.The family would like to thank the following for their compassionate care: Dr. Gregory Doull, Dr. Jefferson Prichard, Shaeler Shifflet, NP, and during his final days the nurses and staff at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, Cornell 1 Floor, Dr. Anna Baer, Dr. Terrell Smith, Dr. Sorin Laza, and Garrett Blom, PA.In honor of Lenny, memorial contributions can be sent to Feeding Greene Inc,-The Food Pantry of Greene County at PO Box 13, Stanardsville, VA 22973.A time of Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 12:00-1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2620 Fray’s Mill Road, Ruckersville, VA 22968. Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 555 Buck Mountain Road, Earlysville, VA 22936.
