Lewis Edward Dickerson
Lewis Edward Dickerson, 74, of Ruckersville passed away in his home on August 22, 2023.
Lewis was born on February 13, 1949, in Ruckersville, VA. He was the only child of the late Edward Lee and Ruth Inez Lewis Dickerson.
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his Uncle Henry Dickerson, his Aunt Dorothy Dickerson Watson, nephews Kasper Dickerson and Vincent Dickerson, and his close friend and partner in mischief, Keith Snow.
Lewis left school after completing the 9th grade and enrolled in The Culpeper School of Welding where he earned a certificate in combination welding. He was also a certified pipe welder and was involved in the construction of the Alaskan gas pipeline and parts of Interstate 64. He was involved in the construction of many local buildings through the company he and his wife, Betty Crawford Dickerson, founded and own, Quality Welding, Inc. He is most known and remembered for his character. His strength and determination were unmatched. He enjoyed making others laugh, and his wit and comedic tales kept everyone in good spirits. He had a brilliant engineering mind and enjoyed creating custom Ford vehicles. He touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Betty Crawford Dickerson, a son Jason Dickerson, a daughter Rebecca Dickerson Marshall, grandchildren Brittany Dickerson Paxton, Dalton Dickerson, Emma Dickerson, Brooke Marshall, Chase Marshall, a great-granddaughter Andi Paxton, a great nephew Gregory Dickerson and a close friend Jerry Moore.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville.
