Lewis Edward Price
Lewis Edward Price, 97, a longtime resident of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Summit Square Retirement Community.
He was born April 27, 1927 in Roanoke, VA, a son of the late Herman Alphon Price and Virginia Hettie (Hunt) Price. He and his family moved from Roanoke to Augusta County. Lewis graduated from Stuarts Draft High School in 1944, while also working at Wortendyke Manufacturing Company in Waynesboro.
During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country faithfully while stationed in the Philippines. At that time, he would send money home each payday to his parents so that they could purchase the Hermitage farm.
After the war, he moved back to Waynesboro where he worked at DuPont and began purchasing properties to rent which became his full time occupation after his retirement from DuPont.
Lewis was a well respected member of the parapsychology and paranormal community. He was always helping others in many capacities including using his skills as a hypnotist working with others to help overcome their debilitating problems.
After the death of his first wife, Hazel (Hall) Price, he married Dorothy (Dottie) Taylor Martin. They enjoyed 38 wonderful years together.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Caleb Price; brother, Hermon Alphin Price, Jr.; and sister, Betty Lou Green.
Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Dottie Price; sons, Eddie Price (Becky Parmer), Jim Price (Brenda), Rick Travis (Sandy), Ron Apsey (Merritt), Robert DeBruine (Janet), and Travis Brown (Shannon); daughters, Becky Swartz (Don), and Vikki Ingram (Brad); 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at McDow Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 18 Sophia Grace Drive, Fishersville, VA officiated by Rev. Tim Bohlmann. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made in his name to Bethany Lutheran Church.
