Lillian Loretta Dickau, 89 of Ruckersville, VA, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at her home. She was born on January 5, 1935 to the late Arthur Schaub and Frieda Schaub. She was also proceeded in death by her husband, Donald Dean Dickau and brother William Durr.

She is survived by children, Susan N. Dickau (Nancy L. Hill) of Ruckersville, VA; Scott H. Dickau (Dawn Dickau) of Tampa, FL; Sandra L. Stoneley (Ernest Stoneley) of Land O’ Lakes, FL; grandchildren, Lauren A. Fortin (Luke Fortin), Travis S. Dickau and Nicole M. Stoneley.

Lillian was raised in the Morton Grove, Skokie area of Illinois. She loved to bowl and was also a baseball player for a women’s league. She held numerous jobs throughout her life including being a switchboard operator, bank teller, accountant for her husband’s side business and for years prior to retirement she really enjoyed working in the food service industry. After her late husband, Donald, retired they moved to the Tampa, FL area where she was thrilled to have her own pool, was happy to be around her families of Scott, Sandy and grandchildren, loved a day out boating and appreciated the warm sun for almost 30 years. In 2014 she moved to Virginia to live with Sue and a couple years later was able to move into a beautiful, tiny home built for her that’s right next to the main house. Although there were many health issues that were being managed, she was in fairly good health for the last 9 ½ years of her life and was cared for extremely well. She was looking forward to being a great grandmother (Lauren & Luke, soon to be parents) in July and had the goal in mind of reaching the BIG 90.

No services are being held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the American Diabetes Association or Breast Cancer Foundation (BCRF). She will be laid to rest at a later date in Illinois with her late husband. May she rest in peace and watch over her loved ones.
