Linda Durham Taylor
Linda Durham Taylor, 74, of Charlottesville transitioned into eternal rest on Friday, November 3, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.
Linda native to Charlottesville was born on January 17, 1949 to the late Grover C. Durham and Mary E. Durham.
Linda loved her family and all time spent with them. Through life she never met a stranger. Her career was in many areas with her last being a school bus aide. She adored the children she worked with before her retirement from the City of Charlottesville. She passed peacefully after a long battle with COPD. The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Piedmont for their support and care over the last year and a half. Also, they’d like to thank Katherine, her social worker and her rock.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Grover Cleveland Durham; her mother and her heart, Mary Edith Durham; her grandfather, Robert Harry Carter, Sr.; her grandmother, Annie Rose Carter and her one true love Stuart Fitzgerald.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved daughters, Sherri Eubanks (Anna) and Anita Fitzgerald-Slaughter (Stephanie); her sister, Sharon Shifflett; her grandchildren, Tannis Corbin (RJ), Kenneth “TJ” Eubanks, Jr., Anthony Fitzgerald (Rika), and Ella “Riley” Eubanks; her great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Khylie, Gavin, Jordyn, Jaidyn, Loghan, Madysen, L.A., Nevaeh, Aleigha, GiGi, Lay, Paizleigh, Gypsy and Liam. Her two special nephews that were more like her sons, James “JJ” Rogers (Heather) and Jeffrey Shifflett (Rachel). She also leaves behind her great nieces and nephews, Ashley, Miranda, Haley, Morgan, Lucas, and Camden, Danielle Fitzgerald Montanez who was like a daughter to her. Linda had a host of friends and acquaintances through her 74 years.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am – 12:00pm on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Teague Funeral Service, 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville VA 22903. A Funeral Service will honor Linda’s Life at 12:00pm in the Chapel at Teague Funeral Service. Immediately following Linda will be laid to rest at Monticello Memory Gardens, 670 Thomas Jefferson Parkway Charlottesville VA 22902.
