Linda Lanier Bell Carter

Linda Lanier Bell Carter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2023, at the age of 79 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Linda was born on October 31, 1943, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Clarence Oliver Bell, Jr. and Hazel Andrews Bell.

Linda was a devoted Christian and truly loved her savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she worshipped for more than forty years.

Linda was known for her loving and nurturing nature. She is survived by her devoted husband, William E. “Nick” Carter, Jr, to whom she was married for 58 years, and her treasured daughters, Mary Elizabeth Knisley (Jamie), and Aimee Lanier Carter Mestler (Derrick). She also cherished her role as a grandmother and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Luke Knisley, Leanna Knisley, Isabelle Mestler, and Claire Mestler.

A visitation will be held Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, from 6:00-8:00pm. A celebration of life to honor Linda will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11:00 am.

Linda will be remembered for her beautiful smile, unwavering faith, and devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. John 15:5.
