Lucille Washington Payne

February 4, 1947 - February 8, 2024

Lucille Washington Payne, age 77, of Charlottesville, VA began her heavenly journey home to eternal paradise on February 8, 2024.

Lucille was born on February 4, 1947 to Levonia Washington of Charlottesville, VA and William Jackson of Baltimore, MD.

Lucille was always one to keep her life in order as well as her family, throughout her life she worked several different jobs and one day decided she wanted better for her and her family. She decided she was going back to finish her education. She was accepted in a program through the City of Charlottesville where she worked for 36 years until retirement, 2013. After retirement Lucille enjoyed her time with family and friends. Traveling and enjoying her relaxing at home. Lucille will be truly missed by many with her infectious smile.

Lucille leaves to her memories to her two daughters, Angela Washington and Martina Payne both of Charlottesville, VA. A stepson, Carroll Jasper of Kentucky. Five grandchildren, Briana Jordan of Charlottesville, Damien, Natasha and Quante Washington all of Charlottesville, VA, and Christian Washington of Raleigh, NC. Ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild all of Charlottesville, VA. A sister-n-law, Annie Washington of Letohatchee, AL, one nephew, Berry Washington of Charlottesville, VA. Two nieces, Wanda Lynn Ford and Shawi Washington of Letohatchee, AL. Two great nephews, Jonathan Washington of Montgomery, AL and Andrew Faulkner of Colorado Springs, CO. One God-daughter, Nakomis Haliburton of Raleigh, NC. One best friend, Norma Medley of Madison, VA and a devoted friend of the family, Dwight Brown of Scottsville, VA and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Levonia Washington and her father William Jackson. A brother, John Washington, a sister Beaulah Washington of Charlottesville, VA. A son, Lloyd Washington, a daughter Nicole Washington, a grandson, Antonio and grand daughter Quanshe Washington and a best friend Curley Haliburton of Charlottesville, VA.

Or family would like to thank the Emily Couric Cancer Center and The Hospice of Piedmont, Center for Acute Hospice Care for the love, care and support given to our loved one.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Zion Union Baptist Church at 1pm. Repast following the funeral at the same location. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
