Margil Lam Coyner
Margil Lam Coyner May 1, 1932 - March 21, 2025 Margil Lam Coyner, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, finished her earthly journey on March 21, 2025, at age 92. Born, May 1, 1932 to the late Roscoe Lusby and Emma Wade Lam, she grew up in Fishersville, VA, graduating from Wilson Memorial High School in 1951. She followed her love for music and studied piano at Sherwood Music School. In 1966, she and her family moved to Charlottesville where she shared her musical studies and love of the piano to educate many children on the instrument. As a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, she served as the organist/pianist and sang in the choir for many years. She was employed at UVA and later moved to Richmond, VA, working for Dominion Power and Richmond Pediatrics. Her passion for music led her to become an accomplished ballroom dancer where she performed in many dance events. She enjoyed traveling the world with her children and friends. After she retired, she returned to Charlottesville to enjoy spending time with her family. She lived with passion and adventure and was inspirational to many. She leaves behind many who dearly love her. Her children Lennie E. Coyner (Debbie) of Charlottesville, VA, Demmie C. Maine (John) of Charlottesville, VA, Deana L. Coyner of Ruckersville, VA, Denise Coyner Pemberton (Terry) of Keswick, VA, a sister Inez Roadcap of Waynesboro, VA; grandchildren, Emmalee Maine, Daniel Maine (Lissa), Rebecca Biskaduros (Zack), Katelyn Flynn (Josey), Kelly Breeden (Spencer), Ryan Pemberton (Helen), and Tim Pemberton (Abbey); twelve great grandchildren and two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lusby and Emma Lam and a brother, Roscoe Lam, of Staunton, VA, and a niece Wanda Roadcap Weaver of Mount Sydney, VA. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont and special friend, Linda McCauley, for their dedicated and compassionate care.
