Marilyn "Aggie" Chain

Marilyn Agnes Chain, affectionately known as Aggie, 82, returned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

Marilyn, native to Ohio, was born on October 24, 1941 to Henry and Marie (Brankel) Kolp.

Marilyn built a career as a well-respected legal secretary, working for several Canton, Ohio based firms. She was an ardent supporter of National Association for Legal Support Professionals having served as secretary and planner of all things fun. Pride in her family’s long history in North Canton led Aggie to tackle planning and hosting the annual Kolp Family Reunion for much of her adult life. Childhood friends were always a priority; she maintained close relationships with each of the girls, meeting with them for their monthly card club until her move to Charlottesville. Aggie’s move to Charlottesville brought her many new friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie Kolp, sister, Rosalie Kolp and brother, Harold "Sparky" Kolp.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Beverly Chain and husband, Andrew Smith of Charlottesville, VA, Debby Chain and husband Dave Abt of Patriot, OH; her granddaughter, Corinne Chain of Hilliard, OH and her brother, Roger Kolp and his wife Beth of Hyde Park, NY; nephew Ben Kolp and wife, Laura Donnelly of Oswego, NY and niece Elizabeth John and husband Ashley and children Alex and Ava of Wilmette, IL.

The family will plan a service to be held in Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's honor to North Canton Heritage Society (210 N. Main St., North Canton, OH 44720) or to North Canton Fire / EMS Auxiliary (145 N. Main St., North Canton, OH 44720).
