Mary Bragg Ross

April 22, 1935 - September 13, 2023

Mary Bragg Ross, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13, 2023, at the age of 88.

She was born to Randolph and Pansy Bragg on April 22, 1935. After graduating from high school, Mary married her husband, Tom Ross. They eventually settled in Culpeper, Virginia, where they made their home and raised four children.

Mary was a homemaker who took pride in creating a loving and happy home for her family. She had a great, infectious laugh and enjoyed a good joke. She was devoted to her children, often saying that they were her greatest accomplishments. She found great joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and spent many hours supporting them from the sidelines of sporting events or school activities. Mary was a humble woman with a servant’s heart, often caring for the elderly or sick and welcoming all neighborhood children into her home. She loved her church and volunteered whenever she was needed at the Culpeper United Methodist Church for many years.

Mary’s life of kindness, faithfulness, sacrifice, and service is the legacy that she leaves for her children, grandchildren, and future generations of her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Tom Ross; her daughter, Debbie Hoffman (Randy); her sons, Randy Ross (Cheryl), Barry Ross (Sharon) and Tod Ross (Valerie). She leaves eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jack Bragg; and sisters, JoAnne Rankin, Lois White, and Betty Sessions.

Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Virginia, is providing the funeral services. There will be a visitation on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a private graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations on Mary’s behalf may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131, or to Hospice of the Piedmont at 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
