Mary Jane Burton

Mary Jane Burton, 83, of Charlottesville passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at UVA Hospital.

Mary Jane native to Houston, Texas was born on February 27, 1941 to the late Edwin T. Burton, Jr. and Lucile Vern Burton (Klopp)

Mary Jane was an outstanding pianist and musician as early as her teenage years. She performed with a Gilbert and Sullivan troupe for several years, as well as in other professional music settings. Mary Jane was a prolific writer and produced numerous short stories over the years. She was a self-taught expert on British History, conversant in numerous languages and a voracious reader. Her good humor and friendly demeanor brought her many long standing friendships over the years.

Mary Jane is survived by her brother, Edwin Burton and his wife Patricia of Charlottesville, VA and her nieces Elizabeth Burton of Rye, NY and Lindsay Burton of Charlottesville, VA.

There will be no formal services for Mary Jane at this time.
