Mary Shelton Bragan

Mary Shelton Bragan, 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Culpeper, VA. She was born on November 13, 1940, in Shelby, Va. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Julian Shelton and Ella Loraine McClammer Shelton, wife of the late Arthur William Bragan. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jennie (George-deceased) Vaughan, brothers Wilbur Shelton, Edsel (Odessa-deceased) Shelton, Johnny Shelton, and Great Nephew James Wyatt Vaughan.

Mary was a member of the Rose Park United Methodist Church, a former employee of ITT Tevis of Culpeper, and a former employee of Walmart in Culpeper.

She is survived by step-son Lawrence R. Bragan (Debra) of Orange, VA, and step-daughters Patrica Bragan, Deborah B. Terrell, Lisa B. Cook, and Lynn M. Bragan, all of Boulder Co area, brothers William Shelton(Anna) of Roanoke, VA, and George Shelton (Agnes-deceased)of Shelby, VA; sister Helen Shelton Ward(Paul) of Culpeper, VA, daughter-in-law, Debra Shelton of Shelby, VA; grandchildren, Joshua Terrell (Christian), Micheal Terrell, Thomas Cook, Brian Cook, Nina (Mitch) King, Lauren Jarred and Robert Bragan (Katelyn): Great-grandchildren Landon Cook and Isabelle Terrell; nephews and nieces; Michael Dennis, Chris (Terra) Ward, Kurt (Kristin) Ward, Rodney (Kathy) Shelton, Chad (Kim) Shelton, Tina (Andrew) Robert, Josh (Maggie) Shelton, Thomas (Karen) Shelton, Kenneth (Rhonda) Shelton; George (Sherry) Vaughan, Jr, and Leslie Davis, great Nephews and Great Nieces Troy Shelton, Christine and Michelle Lecuyer, Jonathan (Lindsay) Shelton, Michael (Kendra) Shelton, Kenneth (Rhonda) Shelton; Great Nephews and nieces: Greyson (Kable) Shelton, Danielle and Lauren Shelton, Hadley and Harper Ward, Justice Ward, and Mitchell Shelton

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at Rose Park United Methodist Church Cemetery.
