Mary Wagner Moyers Sutton
Mary Wagner Moyers Sutton, 103, a resident of Aviva Baldwin Park Retirement Community died peacefully at Augusta Shenandoah Hospice House on October 30, 2024.
She was born June 22, 1921 in Staunton, Virginia the daughter of Wallace G. Wagner and Alyce Demastus Wagner.
Mrs. Sutton graduated as valedictorian of her Craigsville High School class, attended Dunsmore Business College and was an employee of several local banks for many years. She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and had been a 20 year volunteer at Waynesboro Community Hospital and Augusta Medical Center. She was an avid reader who enjoyed current events, crossword puzzles and Trivial Pursuit at Aviva Baldwin Park Retirement Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Julian Keith Moyers of 48 years and her second husband Edwin Willis Sutton; two brothers, Harry Walter Wagner and Elmer Garwood Wagner; two sisters, Lillian C. Wagner and Cornelius Johnson.
Surviving family include daughter Vicki Moyers Douglas and husband Manning Ford Douglas of Richmond; two grandsons, Christopher Manning Douglas (Carrie) and Michael Wallace Douglas (Haylee); six great grandchildren, Anne Parker, Sterling, Emma, Mason, Evalyn and Ruby all of Richmond, Virginia; stepdaughter, Barbara Sutton of Pompano Beach, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:30 pm on Sunday November 10, 2024 at McDow Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Green Hill Cemetery officiated by Pastor April Cranford.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aviva Baldwin Park Retirement Community as well as the numerous devoted caregivers throughout the years.
