Matthew "Matt" Dalton Forster
Matthew “Matt” Dalton Forster, born January 21, 1982 in Baltimore, Maryland to Lou and Mariann Forster, passed away December 24, 2023.
Above all else, Matt was a loving father and husband, a rock & roll enthusiast and a person who devoted his spare time to making, teaching, sharing and encouraging passions.
Matt moved to Miami with his parents in 1984 and later attended Palmer Trinity High School, where he made many life-long friends. He left Miami for Randolph-Macon College, where he played football and joined Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Matt finished college with a Bachelor of Arts in history, an interest he shared with his family.
Matt is survived by his wife of nearly 14 years, Leanna, and his daughter Adalynn (Addy). Leanna and Matt met in college in 2000 and shared seven years of close friendship prior to falling in love and marrying in May of 2010.
Matt’s incredible sense of humor, both dry and mischievous, drew everyone in. As a talented musician and writer, he had a way with words. And as an author of both music and novels, he mined his creativity and intellect at every turn. A certified historian of Westeros, he was quick to offer GOT insight to inquiring minds. Matt embraced quirks, difference and uniqueness. He was a constant reminder to be unabashedly authentic — no questions asked — and he parented with the same ethos. In his dictionary, “weird” is a great word. Matt was a constant party schemer, perpetual DJ and always the last man standing in the name of late-night existential chats.
Matt’s chosen family included his colleagues at Virginia Braces. In every job he took on, Matt’s priority was clear: taking good care of the people he worked with and the people they served.
To all who knew him, Matt was a caring, devoted and thoughtful friend. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who shared his company.
