Michael Caplan

Michael Caplan, 79, of Keswick, Va., died on October 29, 2023 at his home in Glenmore.

Born August 11, 1944 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Esther Finkelstein and Sydney Caplan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Finkelstein and Sydney Caplan, and his sister, Roslyn Suss.

Michael was a loving husband, devoted father, skilled optometrist, avid tennis fan, and the most caring friend anyone could imagine. He touched so many lives and made an impact on this world that words cannot truly capture.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patti, as well as his son, Josh (m. Beth); his brother-in-law, Jack (m. Susanne); his dog, Winston; one step-granddaughter; many beloved nieces and nephews; and numerous loving friends.

The Caplan family would like to thank The Johns Hopkins Medicine Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Sentara Martha Jefferson Hematology and Medical Oncology Associates, UVA Health Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Hospice of the Piedmont.
