Mildred Morris Reese

Mildred Morris Reese, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 27, 2023, with
her family by her side. Mildred was born on December 27, 1933, in Charlottesville, Virginia. She

was a graduate of Crozet High School. She retired from the University of Virginia Hospital after

over 30 years of service.

Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Buck and her husband Scott Buck; Susan Smith

and her husband Eddie Smith; and her son Fred H. Reese, Jr., and his wife Jean V. Reese; her

grandchildren, Dusty Buck, Jes Smith and his wife Shannon Robinson; Tyler H. Reese; and Rylee

Smith; and her great-granddaughter, Natalie Buck. Mildred is preceded in death by her loving

and devoted husband of 69 years, Fred H. Reese, Sr.; her parents, Ruby and Raymond Morris;

her sister, Montrue Roudabush; and her grandson, Seth H. Reese.

Mildred was an extraordinary woman, compassionate, generous, nurturing, and loved by many.

She lived her life with integrity and grace. She cherished her family and had a passion for

gardening, canning, and UVA sports. She was well known for her amazing southern-style green

beans and homemade tomato juice. We remember and celebrate Mildred’s beautiful life.

A graveside service for Mildred will be held Thursday August 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Monticello Memory Gardens, 670 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont at 675 Peter Jefferson

Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911, which provided exceptional care to Mildred and

guidance to the family, and All Blessings Flow at 2335 Seminole Lane, Suite 2000,

Charlottesville, VA 22901.
