Oakey E. Shifflett

Oakey Earland Shifflett, 83, of Palmyra, went to join the lord on 8/10/2024.Oakey was born in Greene County Virginia to Thomas L. Shifflett & Alberta Shifflett on 11/8/1940. Over the 83 years of his life Oakey was and will continue to be a beacon of love, kindness, encouragement & strength. For those who were lucky enough to have Oakey as a part of their lives know his words of wisdom, comfort and humor will impact our lives forever. To say he was a truly good man is not enough he was the rock of his family and loved more than words can say.Oakey is preceded in death by his 2 brothers Milton & Tom and 2 sisters Whorley, Sylvia Ann and 3 Brother in-laws Frank, Brownie & Stuart.Oakey is survived by the love of his life Dorthy Faye Shifflett to whom he was married to for 63 years, 5 children Erlin & wife Jessica, Lois & Husband Glen, Lisa & Husband Mark, Hugh, Oakey & wife Donna, his sister Shirley, 7 grandchildren; Christina, Ashley, Chelsey, Hartley, Nicholas, Quinton & Katherine; 7 great-grandchildren: Camden, Conner, Landen, A’lydia, Clayton, Tinsley & Ruby. Oakey also considered Johnny Lawson as a son; he held a very special place in his heart.Pallbearers will be Erlin, Hugh, Oakey, Camden, Nicholas & Quinton.Memorials go to Teague Funeral HomeA visitation for Oakey will be held Monday, August 19, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903. A a graveside service will occur Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911.
