Oscar "Jack" Jackson Pleasants

Oscar Jackson “Jack” Pleasants, 82, of Scottsville, Virginia, went to his Heavenly Home on December 19, 2023.

Jack was born in Albemarle County on September 15, 1941, to the late Marcus Robert Bruce and Sadie Ida Pleasants.

In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by a special aunt, Frances Angel, and a grandson, Justin “Bubba” Minter.

Jack grew up on the grounds of Farmington Country Club where he, after graduating from Albemarle High School in 1960, worked as a groundskeeper and mechanic for 45 years until his retirement. Jack walked the path of the Lord, a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church in Buckingham County. Before his stroke in 2016, Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother and best friend, Wayne, as well as a good game of golf. Jack was a man of few words, humble and kind.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gladie Pleasants; daughter, Lisa Minter, and husband, Jimmy; granddaughter, Amber Minter Shifflett, and husband, Jonathan; great-grandsons, Blake and Wesley Shifflett; brothers, Robert Pleasants and wife, Patricia, and Wayne Pleasants, and wife, Mary; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Barton, Sarah Stevens and husband, Jimmy, and Lee Cutshaw and husband, Dolphus; brother-in-law, Kenneth Lambert, and wife, Alma; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Tolliver and Pastor Dolphus Cutshaw officiating at Teague Funeral Service located at 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA. Committal service to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens at 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA.
