Patricia Eleanor Welter

June 28, 1939 - July 31, 2023

Patricia “Pat” Eleanor Welter, 84 of Bluffton S.C., died on unexpectedly July 31, 2023. She was born on June 28, 1939, in New York to the late Martha P. Young and Charles E. Young.

She is survived by her two children, Ronald Welter of West Chester, PA, and Linda Jacksta of Bluffton, S.C. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander Welter, and Robert and Christina Jacksta. Pat grew up in New Jersey and worked most of her life as a career civil servant. Initially with the Dept. of the Army at Ft. Monmouth N.J., followed by the U.S. Customs Service in Miami, Fl., spanning over 35 years of Federal service.

She was married to the love of her life Chuck, for 49 years, and they enjoyed traveling the world with friends, making many fond memories along the way. Just before Chuck passed away in 2008, he gave Pat someone else to love her, “Cody” her favorite labradoodle, that became a big part of her life. Pat continued to travel and never let her age get in the way of a good trip!

As much as she enjoyed traveling, she loved her family more. She was a devoted and loving mother and could never get enough time with her children and grandchildren. She loved them all dearly, always wanting to know how they were, and when she could see them. Pat was funny, and kind, and had many friends that she cherished over the years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Hilton Head Island Hospital for the care she received.

A funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Palmyra, VA. August 7, 2023, at 10 a.m. A private interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Palmyra Va., located at 268 Palmyra Lane, Palmyra VA 22963, or the United Methodist Church of Bluffton S.C., located at 101 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC 29910.
