Peggy Anne Hicks

Peggy Anne Hicks, 80, of Louisa, Virginia, peacefully went home to be with her Savior on Monday, September 9, 2024, surrounded by family.

Born on September 12, 1943, in Stoney Point, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Elwood Moubry and Myrtle Moubry. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, James Hicks Sr., and her sisters, Louise Geer, Rebecca Shifflett, and Hilda Thurston.

Peggy was a long-time member of Daystar Worship Center in Gordonsville. She was truly an inspiration to all by exuding God’s love. She never knew a stranger and opened the doors of her home to all. She had an adoring love for children and was fondly remembered as Grandma Peggy by many. Peggy was patient, witty, and playful. Her joyous, light-hearted spirit allowed her to impact the lives of many through her selfless, unwavering love.

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Myrtle Hicks, Bonnie Proffitt, Karen Shiflett (Van), and Debra Punturi; her son, Marvin Hicks (Wendy); and an adopted son, Dennis Collier; her sisters, Mildred Gibson (Edward) and Barbara Ramsey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christy Talley (Will), Brandy Poindexter, Jack Poindexter III, Dustin Sprouse, Michael Hicks, Jennifer Powell (Jamie), Rachel Crenshaw (Dalton), Courtney Hornsby (Cameron), David Sharpe, Ben Sharpe (Tameka), Devin Proffitt, Jeremy Davis, April Palmer, Roscell Clark (Jason), Brayden Shiflett, and Addison Shiflett; and her great-grandchildren, Will Talley, Madilynn Sprouse, Lucas Sprouse, Elisabeth Sprouse, Jayden Hicks, Hudson Hicks, Jamie Powell Jr., Madelyn Powell, Evan Powell, Aiden Crenshaw, Lane Crenshaw, Lettie Crenshaw, Sarah Sharpe, David Sharpe Jr., John Sharpe, Tan Sharpe Jr., Tanae Sharpe, Wyatt Proffitt, Waylon Proffitt, Devin Proffitt Jr., Ava Palmer, and Ashlyn Palmer.

Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, at the funeral home.
