Peter Vladimir Popovsky March 1, 2025 Peter Vladimir Popovsky, 83, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 18, 1941, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Vladimir Paul Alitiano-Popovsky and Margaret Elizabeth Cheney Popovsky. He was preceded in death by his brother, David DeMoulpied, and his sister, Deborah DeMoulpied. Peter spent most of his life in the Danbury and New Milford, Connecticut areas, where he worked as a car salesman for Hayes Chevrolet & Buick. He was known for his dedication and strong work ethic, building lasting relationships with everyone he encountered.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Verna Mae Leseman Popovsky, who was the love of his life and his partner for 62 wonderful years. Together, they shared a deep and enduring bond, creating countless cherished memories. Peter and Verna enjoyed many vacations with their family, traveling throughout New England, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and the Caribbean—places that held special meaning for them.
Peter is also survived by his daughter, Larissa Elizabeth Dreyfus, and her husband, Michael, of New Milford, Connecticut; his son, Peter Todd Popovsky, and his wife, Kimberley, of Charlottesville, Virginia; and his cherished grandchildren, Cooper Dreyfus, Zoe Dreyfus, Isabella Popovsky, and Vincent Popovsky.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date. The family kindly requests that donations be made in Peter’s memory to a charity close to your heart.
Peter will be remembered for his kind heart, his devotion to family, and the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
