Rev. Robert Joseph Donnelly

Rev. Robert Joseph Donnelly, 89, of Palmyra passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his home.

Robert native to New Jersey was born on September 26, 1934 to the late Hugh Vincent Donnelly and Florence Dow Donnelly.

Robert married the love of his life, Peg Donnelly in 1955 before entering into the United States Army. Upon his separation from the US Army, Robert attended Randolph Macon College then moving to Wesley Theological Seminary where he became an ordained Methodist Minister.

Rev. Donnelly served the Winchester community from 1969-1976 at Braddock Street United Methodist Church. Then moving to Charlottesville, Virginia to serve the community from 1978-1983 with Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church. Finally landing at Culpeper United Methodist Church until his retirement in 2001.

Rev. Donnelly leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Peg Donnelly; his son, Bobby Donnelly and his partner, Heidi Dennis; his daughters, Anna Donnelly and Patricia Cornell and her husband, Michael. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Killian Joseph Donnelly, Patrick Barry, Lianna Templeton, Jan Cornell and Stephanie Cornell; and his brother, Edwin Donnelly; his sister, Anna Nicosia.

The family will host a reception to celebrate Rev. Donnelly’s Life from 2:00pm – 4:00pm on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Teague Funeral Service 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rev. Donnelly honor to the Central Virginia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
