Robert "Bobby" Stapleton Marks
Robert Stapleton “Bobby” Marks Sr., 74, of Louisa, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at his home.
Born September 25,1949, in Louisa, he was the son of the late William Henry “Speedy” Marks Jr. and Gertrude Smith Marks. Preceding him in death were his brother, Russell E. Marks; sister-in-law, Brenda L. Marks; and niece Janice M. Humphrey.
Bobby was a lifelong farmer and a retired University of Virginia employee. He spent his life farming tobacco, cutting hay, and raising beef cattle. His favorite place was outside. He especially loved his dog, Buddy, checking on his cows, baling hay, hunting, working in the garden, and riding around the farm on his four-wheeler. He was an active member of Berea Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Emma Jane Goodman Marks; his daughters, Rebecca M. Ramirez and husband Damian of Orange, and Stacy M. Whitbeck and husband Ronnie of Gordonsville; his son, Robert S. Marks Jr. of Louisa; his uncle, Kenneth and wife Betty; his niece, Joyce M. Coates and husband Jeff of Louisa; his son-in-law, Ronald and wife Cheryl; his grandsons, Brandon and Isaiah; his granddaughters, Amanda, Sierra, Madison, Amberlin, Brenna, Keri, and Lillian; his great-grandchildren, Ava, Lincoln, Allison, Nora, Nahla, Bennett, Lane, Magnolia, Rosemary, and Kreed; his great-nephews, R.C. and wife Melissa, and William and wife Serena; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Marks Family Cemetery at 1617 Bickley Rd., Louisa, VA 23093. It will be officiated by Pastor Barry Higgins and Pastor Jim Stone.
Memorial contributions may be made to Berea Baptist Church. Preddy Funeral Home of Gordonsville is assisting the family.
