May 14, 1928 - August 12, 2023

Robert Bruce Millman, Jr., 95, of Richmond, Va., died on August 12, 2023 of natural causes at his home with his family.

Born May 14, 1928, in Highland Park, Mich., he was the son of Robert Bruce Millman, Sr. and Laura E. Gordon. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Mary Jane Bass-Millman and his brother William Millman.

Robert graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Economics and obtained a Juris Doctor Degree with honors from the University of North Carolina. He served his country overseas in the USAF as a 1st Lieutenant. He worked as legal counsel for Reynolds Metals Company in Richmond, Va., (Assistant General Counsel of Reynolds International and Eskimo Pie Corp.) for 33 years. His greatest joy was playing tenor sax in a jazz band. His fabulous smile, care for others and dry wit will forever be missed.

During the last months of his life, Robert resided with his daughter, Lorraine Murray, her husband John and his first wife Patricia Millman. He is also survived by his son, Clifford Millman; his grandchildren, Ryan Bruun, Michael Bruun, and Caitlin Murray; great grandchildren Harrison and Madelyne Bruun; and his nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Millman, Robert Millman III, Ellen Millman and her husband, Eric Rabinovsky and Tommy Autrie and his wife Pam; and many grandnephews and grandnieces.

Special thanks to: Allan Stoneman for engaging him in their search for the perfect sailor sandwich, watching old movies and listening to jazz. To Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital ER and Internal Medicine Staff for the excellent care he received while there. In addition, the Physical and Occupational Therapists from Interim Healthcare brightened his day whenever they came. And finally, Antonio Green who provided meticulous care and made him laugh every day.
