Robert Gerald Shifflett
Robert Gerald Shifflett (Robbie) age 51 of Afton has tragically passed away. God blessed us with him on Dec 4, 1972 and Robbie gave himself back to God on March 24, 2024. He will forever be remembered for his many accomplishments and love for his children.
He was the devoted father of three beautiful daughters, Emma Catherine (Chase) age 20, twins Callie Faith and Elizabeth Grace (aka Libby) age 9. They were his life. Robbie loved teaching his girls to hunt, fish, hike, and ride four wheelers. All the family gathered each evening to reflect upon their day. They worshipped the Lord together on Sunday.
In addition to his 3 daughters, he is survived by his parents Linda and Gerald Shifflett, his brother Brian Keith, and a very special friend with whom he confided, Clifton Page. He loved and often mentored his nieces Kelsey, Kayla, and Kelli. He had many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly.
Robbie was preceded in death by his 3 year old son who had an extremely rare disease known as metachromatic leukodystrophy. Robbie was a young dedicated father and never got over the trauma of losing his son.
Robbie attended Nortonsville Church of God where he was loved by many. He was saved at a very young age and recommitted his life to the Lord in January 2021. He is now resting in that perfect peace that he has longed for.
Robbie was an honor roll student all throughout school and graduated from Western Albemarle High School. He established his own business, Piedmont Mechanical services, where he successfully created a customer base that was fond of him and proud of his expertise. Many ups and downs, hard work, and efforts to succeed but he did it with resilience.
Though he rarely slowed down from work and family time, his favorite past time was gun shows and big game hunting trips to Africa as well as other locations. He cherished his game room with trophies, pictures, and videos of his travels.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday April 1st at Church of the Blue Ridge on route 151 in Afton. Interment will follow at Rockgate Cemetery. McDow funeral home in Waynesboro is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers are Brian Shifflett, Clifton Page, Layton Page, Joe Ferguson, Kenny Breeden and Jason Breeden.
