Rodger Lee Roach
Rodger Lee Roach, 64 of Stanardsville, Va., passed away on January 24, 2024 at UVA Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1959 to the late Jeanie Pearl Thompson. Rodger was raised by his late grandparents, Minnie and Luther Roach.
Rodger, fondly known as “Sidwinder”, worked for several local trucking companies. He could spread gravel like no other. Rodger was so proud that he had been alcohol and tobacco free for over three years! Rodger’s personality and humor leaves us with a smile.
His love of his life for 33 years, Stella Diane Deane, survives him. Rodger is also survived by his brothers, Dennis “PeeWee” Roach, Edwin “Tomboy” Roach (Virginia), Otman “Pedro” Thompson, Jr. (Trish) and Warren Lam (Nikki); his sister, Debra Mouberry (Thomas); Vivian Gay Shifflett, who he thought of as a daughter, and her family, Kenny Shifflett and their children, Olivia and Landon Shifflett; several nieces and nephews, and family friends, Leisa Hall and Daniel Leak.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlotteville, Va. Pastor Eddie Deane will be officiating. Family night will not be held.. His body will lie in state at Preddy’s Funeral Home in Madison, Va.
