Rose Osvath-Edmond

J. Rose Osváth - Edmond passed from this life on November 12, 2024. Rose was born on February 7, 1937 to Joseph and Rosa Choquette in the house that her Great-Grandfather, Gustav Fingerlin had built, in Cranston, Rhode Island. She grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma where her parents had relocated and it was there, she met and married Tibor Osváth – Edmond originally from Budapest Hungary. She spent many happy years in Oklahoma, active in her church, Grace Episcopal where she sang in the choir and was on altar guild. She was also very involved in the Ponca City Playhouse. Rose had the leads in two plays and supporting roles in others. She was active as a make-up artist, ran the box office and was the stage manager for numerous productions. She also worked at the public library which was perfect for her given her love of reading, especially mysteries. After Tibor’s retirement in 1985 they moved back to the east coast. On a whim they spent the night in Lexington, Virginia a town she fell in love with and decided to make it their retirement home. They spent 22 wonderful years in Lexington, staying active in St. Paul’s Anglican Church and volunteering at the Thrift Store, until moving to Charlottesville in 2008 to be closer to family. Rose was an active woman, taking ballet and line dancing classes at the Center for several years. She was very proud that she continued to mow her own lawn and gardened right up until a few months shy of her passing.She loved her family, her church, watching Gene Kelley and Maurice Chevalier movies, ballet, swans and funny cat videos.She is survived by her son Rick, wife Stephanie, daughter Lenke, husband Rolf, grandchildren Eric Edmond, wife Jean, Marika Mann, husband Duncan Tarbutton, Erika Bates, husband Cody, Jenny Edmond, fiancée Dheeraj Sharma, and three great – grandchildren, Gabe, Chyler and Jason.A Memorial Service will be said at St. David’s Anglican Church on January 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM with a small reception to follow. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont for all of their wonderful care to Rose. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Hospice of the Piedmont. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery alongside of Tibor in Lexington Virginia at a later date.
