Rosemary DeVine Waugaman
Rosemary DeVine Waugaman, 88, of Charlottesville, VA died on July 20, 2023 at The Colonnades.
Born March 1, 1935 in Sharon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Paul DeVine and Mary Reardon DeVine. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Vincent DeVine, and her husband, Merle Alvin Waugaman.
Rosemary attended Slippery Rock State Teachers College in Pennsylvania, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. She worked as a teacher for many years. She helped found the Key West Swim & Tennis Club in Albemarle County. She ended her career working in the Albemarle County Real Estate Assessment office. After retirement, Rosemary spent time with her grandchildren, reading, and enjoying UVA sports. Her happiest moments were spent with family during the holidays and the large family reunions in Nags Head, NC.
Rosemary is survived by her two daughters, Kelly Faulconer and Kathy Maynard (Darren); four sons, Mark Waugaman (Joy), Scott Waugaman, Ted Waugaman (Debbie), and Bob Waugaman; fourteen grandchildren, Rachel Faulconer Hinkle (Ethan), Regan Faulconer, Nick Barrett, Jake Maynard, Jensen Maynard, Chara Scott, Jimmy Dagres (Katharine), Chris Waugaman, Kristin Waugaman Harder (Keith), Victoria Waugaman, Kyle Waugaman, Michael Waugaman (Mary), Mitchell Waugaman, and Matthew Waugaman (Nina); eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janet Shick; niece, Stacy Shick; and many more cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Colonnades and Hospice of the Piedmont for their care. Special thanks go to Dr. Bruce Clemons, Dr. Duong Nguyen and Dr. Shabnum Haleem, and their staff and special friend Sandy Keyser, her “adopted daughter."
A family night has been scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Hill & Wood Funeral Home with private funeral arrangements after.
