Sandra Jo Hasher Fields

October 28, 1955 - August 18, 2023

Sandra Jo Hasher Fields, 67, of Troy, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, after a heroic three-year battle with Pancreatic cancer.

She was born on October 28, 1955 to the late Nancy Mae Wood and Ralph Burchell Hasher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Brenda "BB" Kay Whitlow and her son-in-law Walter Edwin Carrier.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, William “Kenney” Fields, their daughters Rachel McCue Fields, and Sarah Fields Christianson and her husband Stephen Robert Christianson. She is also survived by her sister Terry "TT " Hasher Gluck (Bob), her nieces, nephews, and their families: Troy Harding, Kelly Troxell, Katie Berlin, and Katherine Anderson, along with a host of other extended cousins, aunts, uncles, family and friends. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved grandchildren, Gabriel "Gabe" Bannister Christianson and Ada Hasher Christianson who knew her as "Darling".

Sandra was committed to serving others as a nurse in her long career at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Before her retirement, Sandra was the Manager of Admit Recovery, the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and the Pre-Admission Assessment Office. After her retirement, she served on the new Sentara Martha Jefferson Surgical Planning Committee and on the Hospital Medical Administrative Board.

She was dedicated to her faith and was proud to have served as the first female Chairman of Deacons for Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She also co-founded the Crossroads Community Church with the late Bruce Hunter.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Troy with the Reverends Greg Wissinger, Daniel Anderson, and Martha Thorson officiating. Burial will follow at Bybee’s Road Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Hill and Wood Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
