Shirley Ann Payne

Shirley Ann Payne, 87, of Barboursville, Virginia, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Born on February 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Harry Clinton Fisher and Virginia Merle Fisher. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roger A. Payne Sr., her brothers, Harry Clinton Fisher Jr., Ray David Fisher, Carrol Monroe Fisher, and Kenneth Lee Fisher; and her brother-in-law, Doc Dameron. Shirley is survived by her children, Lorrie Ann Payne Bryant (Ricky), and Roger A Payne Jr. (DeLin); her brothers, Roger Irvin Fisher (Ellen), Mason Fisher (Cindy), and Larry Nelson Fisher (Jean); her sister, Betty Jane Fisher Dameron; and her sister-in-law, Iva Fisher. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam J. Carpenter, Hunter Ryan Carpenter, Zachary Harold Carpenter, Nicklaus A. Payne, Jessie A Payne, Sadie Alexis Bryant Follman; step-grandchildren, Sherly Marquez, Angie Marquez, and Nabi Marquez; and her great-grandchildren, Loukis Michael, Liam Alexander Ladd, Ava Carpenter, Carlie Garcia, and Armando LemusA graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Holly Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville. The family extends a special thanks to DeLin Payne for her care.
