Solomon Melton McCauley, Jr.

March 30, 1946 - July 24, 2024

Solomon “Peanut” Melton McCauley Jr. went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2024, after a battle with cancer. Sol died at home, under the care of his loving wife of 41 years, Brenda McCauley.
Sol was born in Charlottesville, Virginia at UVA hospital to Solomon McCauley Sr. and Edith Foltz McCauley. Sol was retired from the post office, and had worked there for more than 30 years, before his retirement. His post-retirement job was driving cars for several of the local car dealerships in Charlottesville, and he loved doing that, and made many good friends in that profession. Sol was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam conflict. He was an active member of the American Legion for more than 50 years and was the bingo chairperson for much of that time.

Sol is survived by his loving wife, Brenda McCauley, and 3 children, Mike McCauley, Jeff McCauley, and Sandra McCauley Flores. He is also survived by his loving daughter-in-law Amy McCauley, son-in-law, Orfilio Flores, grandchildren Jaggar Siever and wife Katie, Ryan Fix and wife Dani, and Trey McCauley and his partner Chloe. He also had 4 wonderful great grandchildren. Sol is also survived by one brother, Earl McCauley and sister-in-law, Laverne McCauley. Sol was preceded in death by both of his parents, Solomon McCauley Sr., Edith Foltz McCauley and his oldest brother, George McCauley.

If anyone knows Sol and Brenda, they know their love for animals. Sol had a soft spot for a very special puppy in his life, Margarita, who doted on her daddy and will miss him very much.

Sol had many special friends and it’s impossible to name them all, but his best friend is Tommy “T-Bone” Estes, who Sol talked about frequently. He also truly loved and valued his friendship with Ronnie “Bubba” Harlow, and Lowell & Dawn Badgley.

Sol will always be remembered for his sense of humor and the way that he loved a good joke. We’ll always imagine hearing them say “I might not be right all the time, but I’m never wrong” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and brother, and will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

A service/celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 74 at 3025 Louisa Rd, Keswick, VA on Thursday, August 1st, 2024, at 6pm.
