Sonny Shifflett, Sr.

Sonny Shifflett, Sr. was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 26, 1964 to Ernest Aubrey and Glenda Ann Shifflett. Sonny passed away at home on Sunday, July 30, 2023 with his wife, Barbara, and daughter, Devy, by his side.

Sonny was survived by his wife, Barbara Thomas Shifflett; his daughter, Devy Lynne Shifflett (Chris Grant); son, Sonny “Buck” Shifflett, Jr. (Heather Collins); stepdaughter, Laura Beth Hayslett (Chris); stepson, Sean Thomas Hayslett (Ramsey); and his brothers, Marland Shifflett and Perry Shifflett (Robin); granddaughters, Sophia Marie Grant, Akira Lynne Grant; a grandson, Ezra, due in October; and his dog Roscoe.

Sonny worked at Standard Produce for 37 years and made many friends. Sonny was a man of many jokes, a great rummy player, loud music lover, loved his dog and adored his granddaughters. If you knew him you would know he loved a drink or 5. In his last years he quit drinking and in this time he had made great memories with his granddaughters. His daughter was extremely proud of him and loved him very much for making such a big and tough change. He will be greatly missed by many.
