Sylvia Back Lynn

Sylvia Back Lynn, age 93, passed away on Wednesday December 13, 2023. Born on July 17,1930 she was the daughter of the late William McKinley Back and the late Cordia Miller Back of Churchville Virginia. Sylvia was preceded in death by Charles Back, Stanley Back, Galen Back, and Edith Bird. Survivors include her loving husband, and caregiver William “Bill” Lynn, children Diane Lambert (Joseph), Michael Lynn (Denise) sister Inez Moneymaker. Grandchildren Jeremy Lynn (Kristin), Emily Ford (Jason), Jason Lambert, Meghan Lambert, great grandchildren Tanner and Chase Walton, Maggie, Sophie and Aiden Lynn, Hannah, Micah, Asher, Ezra and Lily Ford. 

Sylvia graduated from VCU with a Nursing Degree and eventually earned a Batchelor Degree from Mary Baldwin College. She worked at Kings Daughter Hospital and Blue Ridge Sanatorium before starting a 35-year career at the University of Virgina Hospital. 

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Waynesboro Manor for the care given to our loved one during her stay. We would also like to thank Jen Williamson the hospice nurse and the staff from Legacy Hospice for their care and support. 

Visitation will be Monday December 18, 2023 at McDow Funeral Home Waynesboro VA from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on December 19, 2023 at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro Virginia. The Minister Allen Close from Waynesboro Church of Christ will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer Association or Legacy Hospice Fishersville Virgina.
