Thomas Pinkard Wright

February 2, 1949 - October 20, 2023

Thomas Pinkard Wright, 74, of Gordonsville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday October 20, 2023. Born February 2, 1949, in Campbell County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Rev. Richard Wright and Ada Lou Foley. As a member of the 2/8 CAV 1st CAV Division in the U.S. Army, he served his country in the Vietnam war. Tommy retired as a Master Electrician where he worked with the IBEW. After retirement, he drove a school bus for Orange County Public Schools for many years. He attended The Point Church in Charlottesville, and he was a member of the American Legion Post 74 in Keswick. His family was his life, and he took care of them, no matter the need.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Iris Oliver Wright; his son, Brent Wright and wife Heather; his daughter, Brandi Shumake and husband Mike all of Gordonsville; a brother, David “Bo” Wright of Amelia County; four sisters, Cornelia Phillips of Rocky Mount, Betty June Smith of Atlanta, Velma Tsongas of Gordonsville, Alma Lou Boyd of Troutville; nine grandchildren, Cameron Welch, Courtney Wright, Alana Shumake, Mason Wright, Caleb Maupin, Kaylee Maupin, Adlee Shumake, Aspynn Shumake, Grayson Wright; two great-grandchildren, Lorelei Welch, Magnolia Welch; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Wright, and two sisters, Vera Elliott and Sylvia Fowler.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville with interment to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Pastor Daryl Harbin will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
