Vanessa Renay Thacker
Vanessa Renay Thacker, 52, of Crozet, passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2024. She was born on June 17, 1971, in Charlottesville and raised in Greene County. She was a wonderful homemaker, a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt and sister. She was full of life and love for her family, she cherished every moment with her grandchildren and thrived on being “Meme”, not only to her family but to everyone she met. She enjoyed being the life of the party no matter what she was doing, along with always making the most hilarious facial expressions, she loved being outside whether it was fishing with her husband and her family or just watching her grandchildren play. She showed her love through anything she did but she truly enjoyed showing her family love through her cooking, along with anyone who walked through her door. She also showed her love by assigning “nicknames” to everyone that she loved, if she gave you a “nickname” that made you family to her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Enos Roach, a special cousin, Harold Morris and her grandson, Maeson Roach, son of Matthew Roach and Amanda Collier.
She is survived by her mother, Joyce Marshall, her lifetime best friend and loving husband, Charles Thacker and her three children, her son Matthew Roach and his girlfriend Amanda Collier, their two beautiful daughters, Macie Roach and Ava Roach, her daughter, Heather Batten and her husband Levy Batten, their two handsome sons, Abel Batten and Jase Batten, her daughter Hillary Johansen and her husband Benjamin Johansen, their two handsome sons, Braden Johansen and Blake Johansen.
She is survived by her sister Valerie Thacker, her nephew Derek Thacker and his son Andrew Thacker, nephew Daniel Thacker and his two children, Jaxon Thacker and Emmaleigh Thacker, her niece Jenna Thacker and her two children, Landen Alther and Thomas Hensley.
She is also survived by her husband's family, the entire Thacker family held a very special place in her heart.
A great soul serves everyone all the time, a great soul never dies, it brings us together again and again. Her beautiful soul and all of her love will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held by the family at the Dyke Firehouse on May 26, 2024 at 2pm.
