Virginia Dare Gibson was born September 16, 1931 in Charlottesville, VA, and went home to be with her Lord on October 16, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Davis Hall Gibson and Nellie Virginia Shiflett Gibson; her brothers, Warren Dale Gibson, Winston Davis Gibson; her sister, Geraldine Gibson Leveillee; and a niece, Lynette Leveillee Todd. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Wanda Gibson Grimes and family, Terry Gibson Talbert and family, Bradley Gibson and family, Mark Leveillee and family, Michael Gibson and family, and Susan Leveillee Greene and family.

Virginia, also known as “Ginny,” was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Orange since 1953. Throughout those years, she was very active in the United Methodist Women’s Group, as well as teaching Sunday School and participating in all the Church Bazaars where she would can jams and jellies and make cakes and pies for the Bazaar. She dearly loved her immediate family and her church family and wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone in need if it was within her power. Ginny worked for Bank of America (and all of their predecessors) for almost 50 years until retiring to take care of her mother. She also volunteered at the Dogwood Nursing Home for over 25 years providing the refreshment cart to residents as well as general visitations.

Funeral Services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Orange on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 with visitation occurring from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, service at 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with light finger food at noon. Services will be officiated by Reverend Josh Munnikhuysen and Reverend Forest Porter.

Ginny will be interred at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville, VA. A short graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, and all are invited to attend.
