Wesley "Wes" D. Sury

Wesley D. Sury, affectionately known to most as Wes, 73, of Charlottesville passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Martha Jefferson Hospital with his loving family by his side. Wes, native to Troy, Illinois was born on July 7, 1951 to the late Eugene and Pearl (Wyatt) Sury. He attended Triad High School and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville before moving to the St. Louis area where he spent 20 years at Monsanto Company. In 1994, Wes and his family relocated to Charlottesville, VA. Wes worked at Nimbus before moving to Ntelos/Lumos in Waynesboro. Upon retirement, he obtained his real estate license and joined his wife Pat working as a Realtor in residential sales & property management at Montague Miller & Co.Wes loved spending time with family and friends. As Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 17 he spent years leading his sons and local scouts on camping trips, hikes and the Path to Eagle Scout. He was often seen driving his favorite sports cars around town, when he wasn’t working on restoring them. If you needed to borrow a tool, he had it. Wes was very handy often helping neighbors and volunteering with organizations such as AHIP and Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed shooting, weekly golf outings and travel. Wes leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia Sury; sons, Matt (Theresa) Sury, and Brett (Catherine) Sury; Grandchildren, Colin, Elle, Jeanne, Erin and another grandchild due in December; Many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm – 8:00pm on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Teague Funeral Service 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903. There will be a funeral mass at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Church of Incarnation, 1465 Incarnation Drive Charlottesville, VA 22901.
