William "Bill" Woodrow Wright

November 24, 1944 - March 13, 2024

William Woodrow Wright, Jr. (Bill) of Lake Monticello passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024 at the age of 79 with his wife, Cathy, at his side.

Bill was born on November 24, 1944 to parents, William Woodrow Wright, Sr. (Woody) and Regina Wagner Wright (Jeanne) who both preceded him in death.

Bill served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he completed his education at the University of Virginia, graduating in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He then started his career with State Farm where he worked for 20 years in Auto Claims. He moved onto a career with Capital One as a recruiter and also was a licensed Realtor.

Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed cooking and grilling. Bill was always a devoted University of Virginia sports fan. He supported all of the athletics at UVA, win or lose. He loved wearing his UVA T-shirts and attire to support his beloved UVA.

Mostly, Bill enjoyed being with friends and family, laughing and having a good time. Bill was always positive and kind, he was dedicated to being a loving husband and father.

In addition to his parents, his father-in-law, Claude C. Herndon, Jr., preceded Bill in death.

Bill is survived by his best friend and wife of 35 years, Catherine H. Wright (Cathy), his son, Devin K. Wright, and his sister Cheryl Petska and her family. His mother-in-law, Evelyn H. Herndon and his brother-in-law, Claude C. Herndon III (Clint), also survive him

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
