Willis Bernard Knight

Willis Bernard Knight passed away on September 15, 2023 in Leesburg, VA.

Born September 18, 1932 in Greeneville, Tennessee, Willis was the son of the late Horace Christopher and Ruth Spears Knight. He is survived by his wife, June (Toms), their daughter Tina and her husband Marcus Pluntke; the joy of his life, grandson Kellen Pluntke, and a number of nieces and nephews. Willis was predeceased by his son, Gregory Alan Knight, sister Elizabeth M. Plemon and brother Bobby Knight.

Willis served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, He earned his Diploma of Advanced Graduate Study from the School of Education at the University of Virginia. He spent his professional life working in the field of special education and as a psychologist at Northeast Louisiana State University and within the Virginia school systems. After retirement he enjoyed the great outdoors and traveling.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staffs of the Martinsburg WV Veterans Medical Center, the Inova Hospital in Leesburg, VA, HomeHealth Care and their aides, Heritage Hall Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Leesburg and Blue Ridge Hospice for their loving care and support.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon, on September 20, 2023 at the Rock Spring United Methodist Church cemetery in Faber, Virginia with Chaplain Stephen Mathis of Hill and Wood Chapel officiating.
