Yvonne Leveque

Yvonne Leveque, 87 passed away on October 8, 2023, at her home in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born October 8, 1936, in Avon Park, Florida. She is preceded in death by her be-loved husband, Robert M. Leveque and two children, Paul R. Leveque and Renee Hawkins. She is survived by two daughters: Kimberly Metts of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Deborah Leveque of Lake Monticello, VA. She also has four grandchildren: Lindsey Verser, Yvonne Verser, Lauren Hawkins, Julia Hawkins, and one great-grandson: Austin Verser.

Yvonne grew up in Florida and was the daughter of Henry T. and Julia Mae Rutledge. She graduated from Avon Park High School and went on to attend medical technology school in Miami, FL, where she met her husband, Robert Leveque. They moved to Charlottesville, VA in 1973. Yvonne was one of the first members to join Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville under the leadership of Skip Ryan. Yvonne was a national member of The English Speaking Union. She actively participated in hosting activities and attended all events for over 15 years, and was recognized in a moment of silence at the October 2023 meeting by the current president, Phil Williams.

Yvonne had a wonderful gift of hospitality. She frequently hosted bible studies and various social events in her home. Her great love for animals was well known and exemplified by the many dogs she owned and her support of various animal charities. Yvonne loved gardening. In the late afternoons, she could be found enjoying God’s creation walking with her dogs in the neighborhood. Her love of nature included feeding many different types of birds in her yard which was always delightful for family and friends to see when they visited. She was always encouraging of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild and was a constant presence.

Guests are welcome at Teague Funeral Home. The viewing will be at 11 AM and the service will be at 12 PM on October 12, 2023. Following the service, a reception will be held from 1-3 PM. The address is 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
