Emmett Carroll "Sonny" Dudley, Jr.

Emmett Carroll Dudley, Jr. (Sonny), 76, of Charlottesville, Virginia died on October 3, 2023 at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Born September 17, 1947 in Charlottesville, Virginia, he was the son of Emmett Carroll Dudley and Ruby Bruce Dudley. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Virginia Dudley Harlow and Carolyn Dudley Deane.

Sonny was a genuine family man whose greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and cooking. He retired as a locksmith from Facilities Management at the University of Virginia.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Moore Dudley; his daughter Nicole Dudley Wolfe and son Matthew Carroll Dudley (Allison); his granddaughters Carson Carroll Wolfe and Baylor Dudley Wolfe; his sister-in-law Maureen Clark; his nephew JB Harlow (Leatha) and niece JoAnn Flora as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the nursing staff at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital; Dr. Romano, Dr. Dillingham; Dr. Watson; and Dr. Oliver for their compassionate and dedicated care.

Visitation will be at Hill and Wood Funeral Home on Monday, October 9th from 4 to 6 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Monticello Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, October 10th at 1:30 p.m.
