Juliana Draffron Hendrick
Juliana Daffron Hendrick, 76, died December 27 due to complications related to Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Richmond, Virginia, Julie grew up in Chester before leaving for Mary Washington University. She attended and received a Master’s degree from Tufts University, began a career as an educator and along the way met and married the Honorable Jerry Hendrick Jr. of Lakeside, Virginia.
After a year in Lexington, Virginia, Julie and Jerry renovated an old row house in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood where they met many lifelong friends. In 1983, Jerry and Julie moved to Daniels Street in Chester where they raised three children, many cats and one poorly trained dachshund. In 2014, Julie and Jerry moved to Charlottesville to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Julie delighted in her friends and family and could always find the good in people.
Julie is preceded in death by parents Mildred P. Daffron and John F. Daffron, Sr. She is survived by husband Jerry Hendrick, Jr., children Alexander (Elaine), David (Jennifer), and Joanna (Brian), and grandchildren Eliza, Olivia, Daffron, Fielding, Clara, and Daisy.
Julie is also survived by brother the Honorable John F. Daffron, Jr. (Sandra), former sister-in-law Elizabeth M. Daffron and their children Wendy Daffron Henley, Sarah Daffron Koon (David), Kevin Daffron (Shelly), and Amanda Daffron Milam (Scott); brother the Honorable Philip V. Daffron (Diane) and sons Philip V. Daffron, Jr. (Natasha) and Sean Matthew Daffron (Sarah); sister Jennifer Daffron Brown (Lawrence), and their daughter Hilary Brown; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Kathrine Thomson; as well as grand nieces and nephews Hannah, Jacob, Eli, Jack, Ayden, Emmeline, Beckett, Sean, Ella, and Joe.
