Peter Easter
Peter Easter, a longtime resident of Springhaven Farm in Albemarle County passed away November 7, 2023, at age 85. Peter was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend of so many people throughout Virginia.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 57 years, Carol Osborne Easter. He is survived by his spouse, Laney Easter, sister Di DuBose, daughters Deborah Easter and Brooke Maley (David), and son Douglas Easter (Page). He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Will Maley (Libby), Emily Maley, Elly Easter, Owen Easter and long-time friend and farm manager Santos Lopez.
Peter was born in Chicago, IL in 1938 to Donald and Virginia Easter and grew up in Lake Forest, IL. He graduated from Deerfield Academy in 1956 and Dartmouth College in 1960 with a B.A. in Economics. In 1959 Peter and Carol were married in Winnetka, IL. At that time, he was commissioned in the U.S. Army Reserves and served a total of 8 years.
Peter founded Easter Associates, Inc. in Charlottesville and Richmond, a lobbying and association management company. During his forty-year career he worked diligently for his many clients in the Virginia Legislature and was respected by all. In 2008 he was inducted into the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame for his work with the Virginia Association of Broadcasters.
He served as Chairman of the Albemarle Planning Commission and President of The Virginia Hunting Preserve Association. In 2017 Peter led a capital campaign that raised over one million dollars for the Charlottesville Municipal Band, which helped secure the band’s existence.
Peter never strayed far from his beloved Springhaven Farm which he and Carol purchased in 1962. Over the years he raised Angus cattle and hay, but his true passion was training and hunting his English Setter bird dogs through the fields at the farm.

A service and reception will be held to honor Peter on February 10, 2024 at Springhaven Farm.
