Charlottesville, VA – Randy Mays, 76, passed away on November 8, 2023. He was born on March 30, 1947, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Lewis and Velvier Henwood Mays.
Randy graduated from Lane High School and proudly served in the US Navy. He had a fulfilling career, working at Sears and Lowe’s, where he showcased his outgoing personality and love of helping and talking to people. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as he served his community as an Auxiliary Deputy with the Albemarle County Sheriff's Department.
Randy had a fun loving, adventurous approach to life. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and spent countless hours enjoying the outdoors and looking to bag the big one.
Randy's family was the center of his universe and he is survived by his beloved wife Anita, his sons, Randall Mays and wife Lynda, Joshua Mays, Matthew Mays, and his sister, Sharon Herrmann. His smile, his laugh, his sense of humor, and passion for life will be missed deeply and remembered every day.
Hill & Wood of Charlottesville is in charge of arrangements with visitation on Sunday, Nov 12, from 2:00-4:00 pm, followed by a service for the family to celebrate his life from 4:30-5:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to The Center at Belvedere and the CASPCA.
